Everything you need to know about Car Hire Alicante Airport, Costa Blanca

If you’re planning a trip to the Costa Blanca then you’re probably considering renting a car. Luckily for you, this guide to car rental at Alicante Airport is the perfect place for you to get the most up-to-date information online.

As someone who is familiar with Spain and the Costa Blanca in particular, I feel I’m more than qualified to help and guide you through the process of renting a car. This is especially true as I’ve rented cars on more occasions than I care to mention and have done so using pretty much every hire car company that operates here in Spain.

Having rented cars across Spain, including the Canary and Balearic Islands, I can offer a valuable insight into the entire car rental process, which, in Spain, is often a lot simpler than many people expect it to be.

I’m sure that once you have read through this guide you’ll be much more confident and will be better prepared to navigate the car rental process wherever in Spain you are traveling to.

If you’re already a veteran when it comes to renting cars, and simply want to be pointed directly towards the best car rental companies at Alicante airport on the Costa Blanca, then my advise would be, based on personal experience, is to recommend Discover Cars as my preferred car rental provider, for reasons which I will explain later in this post.

BEST CAR RENTAL COMPANY FOR COSTA BLANCA: Discover Cars

When you are ready to book your Alicante airport car rental online, I have no hesitation in recommending Discover Cars. They carry out a search for both international car rental companies and local Spanish car hire companies, so you always get the best deal available.

Best Car Rental Deals Discover Cars

I have been living on the Costa Blanca since 2008, and during those 16 plus years I’ve traveled frequently within the country.

With that in mind, everything I’m about to explain in this guide is based on my personal experiences of renting a car from several locations around Spain, but from Alicante airport in particular.

Although I have my own vehicle in Spain now, there are still times when I need to make a car rental booking online, whether for myself or for friends and family. When I do, I always use Discover Cars, I highly recommend them.

I do so confidently because I found that whenever I searched for the best deals they always seemed to come out on top and they saved me so much time in the process too.

Not only are Discover Cars great at finding the best deals they also allow up to 48 hours FREE cancellation before your reservation. This cancellation policy was a huge relief for many during the COVID pandemic when travel plans constantly had to be changed, thankfully we’re passed that now, fingers crossed!

Here is the exact process I follow to book a rental car:

1. Make Your Car Reservation Online with Discover Cars

Visit the Discover Cars website and enter your travel dates and desired pick-up location, typically this will be the airport you will be flying into.

I only prioritize rentals from highly-rated car rental companies and my advice to anyone else would be to do exactly the same.

I highly recommend using the rating filter feature since everyone is eager to secure those incredible Alicante airport car rental offers. Keep in mind that the cheapest option is rarely the most reliable and often end up being a lot more expensive than you bargain for!

Personally, I refrain from renting from establishments that have a rating below 7 out of 10 stars. I’m a firm believer in the adage, you get what you pay for.

In my case, I find it unwise to compromise my vacation experience by saving a little money only to endure subpar customer service. However, if you are working on a tight budget sometimes the lowest priced option is the only option that is affordable!

2. Choose Comprehensive Insurance with Discover Cars

I always select the Comprehensive Insurance option provided by Discover Cars when I rent from them, and I am not the only one! As stated on the Discover Cars website, a significant 85% of customers take out their Comprehensive Insurance Policy to ensure they experience a worry-free rental experience in Spain.

For approximately €9 per day, Discover Cars provides coverage for any damages incurred to the rented vehicle. This coverage encompasses repairs to the vehicle’s body, dents, scratches, windows and glass, tires, towing services, lost keys, and other related expenses.

Discover Car Full Coverage Policy - What is covered

Will Car Rental Companies Accept a Full Coverage Policy from Discover Cars?

From a legal standpoint, they have to, I’ve yet to hear of any company that has not accepted a third party insurance policy through Discover Cars. This is one of the main reasons I suggest renting from a well-rated company known for their good customer service.

When you decline to take the car rental company’s insurance, they will hold a security deposit on your credit card, the amount varies from company to company.

When you return your rental car back without any damage, your deposit will be returned in full. However, should you be unlucky enough to have had some damage, the cost for repair will be taken out of your security deposit.

Once you’ve been notified of a deduction, you’ll have to make a claim with Discover Cars. According to the information on their site this is usually processed in 48 hours or less. I’ve never had to make a claim so I cannot vouch personally for this but I have no reason to disbelieve it.

The information I have provided above is based on my first-hand experience of renting cars in Spain. I haven’t always used Discover Cars, but since using them a few years ago I haven’t looked anywhere else and have always had a good experience.

However, I cannot guarantee your rental process will be as trouble free as mine have always been, but I do hope the info I’ve provided has been helpful for your trip to Spain and the Costa Blanca.

If you have decided to use Discover Cars for your car rental, the one thing that I cannot stress enough is the importance of renting from a company that is well-rated. As I’ve said, I have only had good experiences when using Discover Cars with well-rated companies, enough said.
