Calpe nightlife is much quieter than its noisy neighbour, Benidorm, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a vibrant hot spot.
While it is true that Calpe has more restaurants than bars, there are still plenty of the latter to keep you entertained, and there are even a few pubs and clubs where you can dance the night away, too.
When the sun goes down, Calpe comes to life. Bars and clubs that cater to every preference, from laid-back lounges to high-energy dance floors, spring into life. Calpe’s nightlife has something to offer everyone, whether you’re in the mood for a casual drink, live music, or late-night dancing.
Here’s your up-to-date guide to the best bars and clubs in Calpe.
Note: I will also list those bars and clubs that are now permanently closed that other sites still list as some of the best. I don’t want you to waste your time looking for them!
Calpe Nightlife – Bars
Chupiteria Hot Shots
This lively shot bar is a staple of late-night Calpe nightlife during the summer months, offering an inventive menu of shots that are as delicious as they are potent. Over 100 different shots at just 1€ each!
During the summer, Hot Shots opens every night from 23:00 until 04:00. In the winter, the bar only opens on a Saturday, when the young locals go out to enjoy themselves. They are sometimes open on a Friday as well.
If you plan on going clubbing and looking for a great bar to start your night, then Hot Shots is the place to begin in Calpe! It’s an excellent bar to start your night and finish!
You’ll find a mix of music played from rock to reggaeton and Spanish party tunes, which goes down well with most drinkers.
The only downside of Hot Shots, which isn’t a downside, is that it attracts a younger clientele. Still, there again, age is just a number. I’m a granddad and have downed a few shots in there!

Acuarios Beach Lounge Bar
If Hot Shots sounds too lively for you, Acuarios offers the complete opposite! As a beach lounge bar, Acuarios has a relaxed vibe perfect for enjoying a cocktail overlooking the sea. It’s the ideal spot for sunset drinks and often has a DJ spinning chill-out tunes.
The attentiveness of the owner and staff is second to none, as is the quality of their cocktails, and the ambiance and decor are very classy and welcoming.
As with most bars in Calpe, the summer months are much busier at the Acuarios than the rest of the year, but don’t let that put you off. Its location near the port puts it at the quieter end of the Arenal-Bos beach, one of the two main Calpe beaches, so even during those busier months; it still seems like the most chilled place in town.
Prices are comparable to most bars on the seafront, which I found surprising. Given the bar’s appearance, I expect to pay more than I would be spending at other bars if I were to guess the price of their drinks.
As with many beachfront bars and clubs, opening times change with the seasons. The Acuarios usually opens at 20:00 and stays open until 03:00. During the holiday season, this will be every night; in the close season, it usually only opens on Friday and Saturday nights.

Please note that The Irish Sea Tavern is what I would classify as an Irish-themed bar rather than an Irish-run bar, so don’t expect a ‘craic‘ with the landlord or staff, attentive and friendly as they may be.

Bar Unity

On Saturdays, you might catch and enjoy some live jam sessions, some good, some not so good, but anyone can join in.

Occos Bar and Dance Floor
Occos Bar Dance Floor is worth checking out, mainly if you are located at the north end of Playa de la Fossa. This popular bar offers a great atmosphere, excellent cocktails, and friendly staff to make you feel at home.
The bar is well-maintained and looks excellent. The great dance music vibe makes it an ideal spot for a night out with friends.
One of the highlights of Occos Bar is its excellent selection of cocktails and drinks. Customers rave about the quality of the cocktails, which are made with top-shelf liquor and fresh ingredients. You can also try out shisha if that’s your thing.
Occos Bar is located at Av. Rosa de los Vientos. It is easily accessible by car or public transportation, and plenty of parking options are nearby.

Disco Camaleón
Disco Camaleón is, I guess, the only ‘so-called’ nightclub in Calpe and is known for its vibrant atmosphere and diverse offerings. Located on the beach, literally a stone’s throw away from Chupiteria Hot Shots, it is a favourite haunt for young locals and tourists alike.
If you want to look it up on a map, its address is Calle Gibraltar, Edificio Voramar.
At the time of writing (November 2023), Camaleón is only open on Saturday nights from 23:55 until 07:00. However, during the summer, the club is open every night.
Disco Camaleón is regularly praised by visitors for its lavish parties, spectacular cocktails made with natural products, good atmosphere, and excellent staff service.
Your visit may coincide with the club throwing one of its regular theme nights, foam parties, or even the entertaining animal party. You may even get some free shots as part of the experience.
Although most visitors enjoy Disco Camaleón, it does not differ from any other entertainment venue in that individual experiences may vary.
